Freeland Seminary was established by the Rev. Abraham Hansicker on land bought from William Tennant Todd. Freeland Hall was erected in 1848. The "North Wing" (Stine Hall) was built in 1856.
These two buildings were acquired by purchase in 1869 by Ursinus College. In 1872 "East Wing" (Derr Hall) was added by the college.
In the fall of 1968, these three dormitories were razed to clear the site for the Myrin Library, at the top of Freeland Path.
